The easiest, fastest set up is to use Fantastico. Just fill in 6 short data fields and click. It takes about one minute.
However, It’s not as secure as the manual install, because it creates standard files that can be targeted by hackers. But if you use a strong username and passwords, a good security plugin, and keep your site updated, you’ll reduce your site’s risk of getting hacked.
Log into your cPanel dashboard.
(You’ll find this information in the email Hostgator sent you after you signed up for your hosting account.)

Locate Fantastico and click on it.

Click on “WordPress”.

Select “New Installation.”

Select the domain you want to install WordPress on.
(Your view will look slightly different depending on how many domains you are hosting on your account.)

Enter Administrator and site data.
1. Enter an Administrator username. This CANNOT be changed later. Also, do NOT choose ‘Admin’ for your username. It’s best to select a username and password that include a combination of upper and lower case letters, numbers and characters.
2. Enter a strong password. (Can be changed later.)
3. Enter an Admin nickname. (Can be changed later.)
4. Enter an Admin email address for your site. (Can be changed later.)
5. Enter your site’s name (or brand name). (Can be changed later.)
6. Enter your site’s description or tag line. (Can be changed later.)
7. Click “Install”.

Fantastico shows you the name of the database it created…
…and that WordPress is installed as the main site (in the root directory) of the domain you selected. Click on ‘Finish installation.’

Fantastico tells you that WordPress is installed and configured.
It reminds you of the WordPress Administrator Username and Password you chose, and gives you the URL to use when you want to log into your site (circled in red).
If you want confirmation emailed to you, enter an email address and click ‘Send E-mail’.

The installation is complete.
Now you can visit your new WordPress site at the domain you chose, log in and start customizing it!
