About SoloProWebs & Me

Hi! I’m Audre. Until recently, when I talked to people about building and managing a WordPress website, I used the metaphor of building and maintaining a house.
Back in 2006, when I started learning how to build WordPress sites, I was still running my own business appraising homes.
The house metaphor was a natural response, considering the 15+ years I had spent in residential real estate as a broker, appraiser, remodeler, designer, painter, carpenter, landscaper, leasing agent, property manager — some titles were fairly short-lived, but I got the job done!
The house metaphor still works in some respects, but after a decade of full-time digital marketing, consulting for clients and contracting for Silicon Valley startups, I feel the metaphor of homes and land is too static.
The garden metaphor is a better fit. We see plants change everyday. They grow or wither depending on DNA coding and environmental influences: the weather, insects, animals, human neglect or care.
When neglected, plants stop producing and dry up into brittle leaves and hard stalks. When tended, they thrive, and bear flowers and fruit. Websites behave in similar ways.
It’s not a perfect metaphor. Websites are not alive — yet! — but the line between life and artificial intelligence is fading every day. Like it or not.
Anyway…I understand website owners who don’t want to manage their own sites. I’m a vegetarian who doesn’t grow her own vegetables…yet I appreciate farmers who have the skill and patience to do it for me.
That’s why I enjoy working with professionals who appreciate the skill and patience required to produce leads and sales from their websites.
If that sounds like you, feel free to connect. It would be a pleasure to meet you!
